Quality is more than a final inspection at UltraComfort America. It’s a commitment that begins long before a power lift recliner reaches a retailer or finds its place in someone’s home. For the past 15 years, Mark Mrugal, Director of Quality Assurance, has played an integral role in upholding the standards behind the comfort and reliability our customers have come to expect.

Mark has the challenging task of overseeing quality across our power lift recliner product lines, working closely with production teams as well as suppliers and quality teams overseas. His dedication to maintaining the highest standards earned him one of the company’s most prestigious honors in 2023, when he received the President’s Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions.

Quality Around the Clock

For Mark, a typical workday begins long before most alarm clocks go off.

He starts his day around 2:30 a.m., corresponding with overseas suppliers and quality teams. By 5:30 a.m., he is at work reviewing quality and production metrics from the previous day and identifying the most urgent issues his team needs to address.

Throughout the day, Mark communicates with his team regarding incoming shipments and works closely with the final inspection quality control team in Lift Chair production. Together, they identify new or potential quality issues and look for opportunities where additional training can help strengthen production.

It’s an around-the-clock approach that helps identify potential concerns early and continually improve the products leaving our facilities.

One accomplishment Mark is especially proud of is the progress made in the long-term performance and reliability of our power lift recliners during his time with the company.

For UltraComfort retailers, that progress means greater confidence in the products they recommend to their customers and fewer product-related concerns after the sale.
