This month, we’re proud to recognize Ed Pollard, Director of Lift Chair Engineering, whose story is uniquely intertwined with Golden Technologies, UltraComfort’s parent company. Ed has been part of Golden since the very beginning in 1985, helping build the foundation of our lift chair business and continuing to shape the innovative products we offer today.

Read the article below to learn more about Ed’s remarkable history with Golden and the lasting impact he continues to make on UltraComfort, our retailer partners, and the customers we serve.

July 2026 Management Spotlight: Ed Pollard

Few people know our lift chair business quite like Ed Pollard.

Ed’s relationship with Golden Technologies, UltraComfort America’s parent company, dates all the way back to 1985, when Golden was just getting started. At the time, Ed owned and operated Pollard’s Upholstery and became involved with Golden by helping manufacture some of the company’s earliest lift recliners.

Over the years, Ed has truly done it all. From running production and upholstering chairs to assembling products, loading trucks, and working alongside the team on new designs, Ed has experienced nearly every aspect of bringing a lift recliner to life.

That hands-on knowledge has become invaluable as Golden and UltraComfort have grown.

Today, as Director of Lift Chair Engineering, Ed focuses on research and development, working with teams across the company to design innovative new products, improve existing ones, solve challenges, and identify opportunities that help our brands continue to grow.

Ed has played a significant role in the development of many products and technologies that have helped define our lift recliner lineup, including our sizing offerings and UltraComfort chairs featuring Stellar Positioning and Eclipse Tilt Technology. His decades of experience give him a unique ability to understand not only how a chair should be designed and built, but how thoughtful engineering can translate into greater comfort, functionality, and quality of life for the person who ultimately uses it.

For our retailer partners, that commitment means having innovative, dependable products that address a wide range of customer needs and provide meaningful solutions on the showroom floor. For our customers and their families, it means having more choices designed around individual comfort, positioning, mobility, and independence.

For Ed, that impact has always been what matters most.

“I’m not motivated by money or recognition. I do what I do to see that it gets done, to be part of the conversations that matter, and to design and build products that truly improve a person’s quality of life.”

Thank you, Ed, for 41 years of dedication and for continuing to help us build products that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
